War of Morgard guide

Twice a week Valcrest and Gorzhak go to war over the ruined valley of Morgard. One hour, two forts, two War Keepers, and one prize: a bonus for your whole nation until the next war. Here is how the war works and how a nation wins it.

Wednesday and Saturday 21:00 to 22:00 (Istanbul time)Level 40 and upWin: bring down the enemy War KeeperPrize: +5% XP, gold and drops

When it runs

The war opens every Wednesday and Saturday at 21:00 Istanbul time and lasts one hour, until 22:00, unless a nation wins it sooner. The whole server is warned 10 minutes and 1 minute before it begins. If you turn on notifications in the game menu, the first warning reaches your phone or browser too, even when you are not playing. The calendar button by the clock in the game shows the next war on your own clock.

Getting there

Every travel gate lists Morgard. While the war is closed its name shows faded; once the war is on, any player of level 40 or more can step through from any gate. You arrive at your own nation's fort at your end of the valley. Like the bases of the Colony, a fort is safe ground: nobody can strike you inside it, nobody can strike out of it, and its fire towers burn enemies who come close. Each fort has a scribe who sells scrolls, so you can buy what you forgot without leaving.

The valley

Morgard is a ruined valley with the Valcrest fort at one end and the Gorzhak fort at the other. A main road runs down the middle through the ruins at the centre, and side roads curve around both flanks, crossing the river on bridges. No monsters live in Morgard: every enemy you meet there is a player or a War Keeper. It is a PvP zone, so every kill pays National Points just as in the Colony.

The War Keepers

Each nation's fort is guarded by its own War Keeper, the Valcrest War Keeper and the Gorzhak War Keeper. They are level 65 giants, above any player, with heavy area attacks that stun and sweep. A Keeper never attacks its own nation and holds its ground in front of its fort.

How a nation wins

The first nation to bring down the other side's War Keeper wins the war. It does not matter who strikes the last blow: when the Gorzhak War Keeper falls, Valcrest wins, and the other way round. The whole server hears who slew it. A minute later the war ends and everyone still in Morgard is sent to Emberfold. If no Keeper falls before 22:00, the war ends with no winner.

The prize

The Colony closes during the war

While the war is on, the Colony Zone is shut. Everyone in the Colony when the war opens is sent to Emberfold, and the Colony's gate refuses everyone until the war ends. That brings the whole level 40+ crowd into one place: if you want to fight, Morgard is where the fight is. Daily Colony quests and Colony bosses wait an hour.

A winning plan

  1. Gather before 21:00. Form parties and pick a leader in town during the warnings. A nation that arrives in pieces loses in pieces.
  2. Split the work. One group holds the middle and the bridges against the enemy push; a second, stronger group with healers goes for the enemy Keeper.
  3. Bring numbers. A Keeper is far too strong for a small group. A real attack needs a dozen players or more, with Priests keeping the front alive.
  4. Mind the towers. The enemy Keeper stands well in front of its fort, out of the fire towers' reach. Fight it there, and never chase defenders back into their fort.
  5. Guard your own Keeper. The war ends the moment yours falls. Leave enough defenders to stop a raid around the flanks.
  6. Use your control. Warriors' War Cry, Mages' Frostbite and Glacier, and Rogues' Hamstring stop the defenders long enough for the attack to finish the job. The class guide lists every skill.
Tips
  • Read a scroll before you step in. They keep running through death.
  • Stay with your party: the Keeper's gold and NP go to the top damager's party, but only to members close by.
  • The highest levels should hit the Keeper; lower levels do better holding the roads.

Questions

Do I need a clan to join the war?

No. Every player of level 40 or more may join through any travel gate. A party helps a lot.

What happens if I die?

A death to a player never costs XP, but the player who killed you gains National Points and you lose half of that.

Is the war on every server?

Yes. Each server fights its own war, at the same hours.

I am under level 40. Can I still help?

The bonus reaches every player of the winning nation, at any level. Meanwhile, the Crystal Clash lets you fight the other nation from level 20.
